Finishing your Weave

Properly finishing and sealing your woven pieces not only enhances their appearance but also ensures their longevity and durability, allowing you to enjoy the beauty of your creations for years to come.

Trimming Excess Cord

Before applying any finish, carefully trim any excess Danish Cord from the chair frame. Use sharp scissors or a utility knife to achieve clean and neat edges. Be cautious not to cut any cords that are part of the weaving pattern.

Concealing Cord Ends

Tuck the cord ends neatly under neighbouring warp cords on the backside of the chair frame. This ensures a tidy finish and secures the cords in place. Use sewing needles or pliers to help with this task, especially in hard-to-reach areas.

Inspecting the Weave

Inspect the entire weave for any loose cords or areas that need tightening. Gently adjust the weave by pulling and tightening the cords to achieve an even and consistent surface.

Final Inspection

Once the cord is well-tightened and tidied up, inspect the entire piece for any touch-ups or adjustments. Make sure the Danish Cord weave looks even and align the strings so they look straight both vertically, horizontally, and diagonally in the case of the rush pattern.
